There are two additional guest suites and a third room, overlooking the gardens, which would make a fabulous office or play room. Historic details, such as Neoclassical wainscoting, original fireplaces, mantels, mouldings and the staircase, have been expertly preserved and can be found throughout the home. There is also a carriage house with one bedroom and a full bath with a steam shower. The original home was constructed circa 1797 by Revolutionary War veteran and master builder, Anthony Toomer. It was billed as a "simple two-bay house with beaded weatherboarding and a low pitched roof at a substantial distance from the street line." Around 1840, Thomas F. Purse added a "two-story masonry addition to the front of the house, as well as a one-story piazza."
